Wed, March 5, 2025 at 13:30-14:30 in Biomedicum 1, Seminar room 1-2 and on Zoom (Meeting ID: 648 0498 6682 Passcode: 366409) for a science seminar on Data- and AI-driven molecular medicine with Olli Kallioniemi. Prof. Satu Mustjoki is the host of the seminar.
Olli Kallioniemi’s interest area is in technology-, data-, and AI-driven precision medicine. He received his M.D. in 1984 and Ph.D. in 1988 from the University of Tampere in Finland. After a postdoctoral fellowship at UC San Francisco, he has had PI roles and professorships in Finland (Tampere, Turku, and Helsinki), in the USA (NHGRI/NIH in Bethesda, MD and TGEN in Phoenix, AZ) and in Sweden (Karolinska Institutet and SciLifeLab). He has had several leadership roles, including serving as the founding director of the Institute of Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) from 2007 to 2015 and as the Director of the Science for Life Laboratory in Sweden (2015-2024, www.SciLifeLab.se). Olli Kallioniemi is also the founding director of the SciLifeLab & Wallenberg National Program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) (www.scilifelab.se/data-driven/about/) (until summer 2025). He is now establishing a new research program at FIMM/HiLIFE at the University of Helsinki focusing on data and AI in molecular medicine.
Olli Kallioniemi has 420 publications listed in PubMed and has been a co-inventor of dozens of patents and patent applications. He is a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), the European Academy of Cancer Sciences, The Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet, and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
