Research in the spotlight – Lung Cancer Month patient-researcher meeting
November is International Lung Cancer Awareness Month. During the month, Finnish Cancer Patients will highlight the experiences of lung cancer patients and their loved ones about the disease and its treatment, and the challenges of lung cancer diagnosis and treatment.
The patient-researcher meeting for lung cancer patients and their loved ones at Biomedicum on Tuesday 15 November from 17-19 will focus on research.
At the meeting, we will learn about lung cancer research at the University of Helsinki’s HUS Meilahti campus, and the journey of a sample from the patient to the laboratory. Heidi Haikala, Ilkka Ilonen and Emmy Verschuren and their research teams will be present. There will also be time for discussion and questions, and of course coffee and snacks will be served. The discussion will be followed by a tour of the two research groups’ laboratories: the HaikaLab and the FIMM Translational Lung Cancer Lab. The meeting and the guided tour will be in Finnish.
Remote participation is possible for the first hour. Pictures of the laboratory tours will be sent to remote participants afterwards.
