First training of HUS Research Councils

The first training day of the HUS Research Councils took place on Monday 21.9.2020. The training was attended by about 50 members of the HUS Customer Councils and the iCAN Patient Advisory Board.

The customer councils have been working in HUS for several years to develop a patient-centred care culture and services. The aim of the research council is to ensure that the experiences and views of patients, relatives and other people interested in research are also used more in scientific studies in the future.

The training, which has just started, aims to provide an introduction to clinical trials, the Research Council and related common practices. The first day of the training included an introduction to patient involvement in clinical trials by Mirjami Tran Minh, an overview of pre-clinical and translational studies by Juha Klefström, Research Director (CancerIO), and a presentation on the legislation governing clinical trials by Nadja Kullas, contract laywer (HYKS Institute). The training was opened by Anne Pitkäranta, Director of Research at HUS. The second part of the training will take place on 5 October 2020.

iCAN has been involved in the preparation of the training in cooperation with HUS and EUPATI.
